لَمْnot أَسْلُI cease loving إِذْwhen عَذَّرَgrew cheek down (also: made excuses) مَنْthe one who شَفَّنيwasted me
لَمْ أَسْلُ إِذْ عَذَّرَ مَنْ شَفَّني
عُذْراًan excuse وَبَعْضُand some الْعُذْرِthe excuse إِيهامُdeception
عُذْراً وَبَعْضُ الْعُذْرِ إِيهامُ
I did not cease loving when the one who wasted me grew cheek down—
I did not ask for an excuse when the one who cured me made excuses
an excuse, though some excuses are deceptive.
Some of the excuse was just an illusion

And soon a beardless youth will grow a beard:
And after a little while a beardless youth
his beard has already traced the letter lām.
Whose beard was just starting to grow deceived me
