هَمَّتْsought عِذاراهُhis two sideburns بِتَقْبيلِهِto kiss him
هَمَّتْ عِذاراهُ بِتَقْبيلِهِ
فاسْتَلَّso he unsheathed مِنْfrom عَيْنَيْهِhis two eyes سَيْفَيْنِtwo swords
فاسْتَلَّ مِنْ عَيْنَيْهِ سَيْفَيْنِ
His two sideburns sought to kiss him;
She prepared to kiss him
so he unsheathed two swords from his eyes.
So he unsheathed his twin swords from his eyes
فَذَلِكَthus that الْمُحْمَرُّthe reddened part مِنْof خَدِّهِhis cheek
فَذَلِكَ الْمُحْمَرُّ مِنْ خَدِّهِ
دَمٌblood جَرىflowed بَيْنَbetween الْفَريقيْنِthe two sides
دَمٌ جَرى بَيْنَ الْفَريقيْنِ
Thus that redness on his cheek
Thus the blush on his cheek
is blood that flowed between the two sides.
