لديناwe have بركةٌa pool كالبدرlike the full moon حسناًin beauty
لدينا بركةٌ كالبدر حسناً
وليسand not يصيبهاbefalls it كالبدرْlike the full moon نقصُdiminution
وليس يصيبها كالبدرْ نقصُ
We have a pool as beautiful as the full moon,
Yet, unlike the full moon, it suffers no waning.
كأنَّas though الريحَthe wind تأتيهاcomes to it برياًwith the fragrance of
كأنَّ الريحَ تأتيها برياً
حبيٍبa beloved قدhas تباعدgrown distant منهof him شخصُbodily presence
حبيٍب قد تباعد منه شخصُ
As though the wind were bringing it the fragrance
Of a beloved whose bodily presence has grown distant,
فيطرِبهاand so it enraptures it إلىto أنthat يعتريهاcomes over it
فيطرِبها إلى أن يعتريها
منfrom الإطرابِenrapturement تصفيقٌclapping ورقصُand dancing
من الإطرابِ تصفيقٌ ورقصُ
And stirring it to rapture until it is overcome
By clapping and dancing from delight.
