رَمَىstruck حَرَّthe core of قَلْبيmy heart بأَجْفانِهِwith his eyelids
رَشاa fawn ماnot دَرىknew قَدْرَthe worth of ماwhat قَدْalready رَمىhe struck
He struck my heart's core with his eyelids—
a fawn who knew not the worth of what he had struck.
وَقَدْand already كانَhe had قَدَّمَoffered إِحْسانَهُhis kindness
وَلكِنَّهُbut he قَدَّtore apart ماwhat قَدَّماhe offered
And he had already offered his kindness,
but he tore apart what he had offered.
وَهَدَّمَand he demolished بُنْيانَthe edifice of صَبْريmy patience بِهِwith it
فماfor no أَحَدٌone هَدَّdemolished ماwhat هَدَّماhe demolished
And with it he demolished the edifice of my patience;
for no one has demolished what he demolished.
لَئِنْif indeed كانَhe has حَرَّمَforbidden مِنْof أُنْسِهِhis companionship
حَلالاًsomething lawful فَياthen oh حَرَّthe burning heat of ماwhat حَرَّماhe forbade
If indeed he has forbidden, of his companionship,
something lawful—then oh, the searing heat of what he forbade!
وَإِنْand if كانَhe has أَضْرَمَkindled نارَthe fire of الْجَوىَlovesickness
فَلاthen not أَشْتَكيI complain of ضرَّthe harm of ماwhat أَضْرَماhe kindled
And if he has kindled the fire of lovesickness,
then I do not complain of the harm of what he kindled.
فَتَسْليمُso the surrender of أَمْريmy affair بهِconcerning him لِلْقَضاto fate
ذَخَرْتَyou stored up بِهِthrough it أَجْرَa reward for ماwhat أَجْرَماhe did wrong
So my surrender of my affair concerning him to fate—
through it you have stored up a reward for his wrongdoing.
