فَتىً رَبُّهُ دِرْهَمُهْ

فَتىً رَبُّهُ دِرْهَمُهْ

وَفارِسُهُ أَدْهَمُهْ

وَفارِسُهُ أَدْهَمُهْ

A youth whose lord is his dirham,

His Lord's dirham is his youth

And whose rider is his black steed.

And his steed is his pride

وَغَيْرُ حَلالٍ جَمي

وَغَيْرُ حَلالٍ جَمي

ع مَا فِيهِ إِلاَّ دَمُهْ

ع مَا فِيهِ إِلاَّ دَمُهْ

And unlawful is all

He has gathered what is unlawful

that is in him, except his blood.

Nothing in it except his blood

تَكَوَّنَ مِنْ بُغْضِهِ

تَكَوَّنَ مِنْ بُغْضِهِ

فَلا أَحَدٌ يَرْحَمُهْ

فَلا أَحَدٌ يَرْحَمُهْ

He was formed from his hatred,

He was formed from hatred

So no one has mercy on him.

So no one has mercy on him

وَيشْتِمُ كُلَّ امْرِىءٍ

وَيشْتِمُ كُلَّ امْرِىءٍ

وَكُلُّ امْرىءٍ يَشْتِمُهْ

وَكُلُّ امْرىءٍ يَشْتِمُهْ

And he insults every man,

And he insults every person

And every man insults him.

And every person insults him

تَبَدَّى لَنا ضَاحِكاً

تَبَدَّى لَنا ضَاحِكاً

فَقُلْتُ استهُ أَوْ فَمُهْ

فَقُلْتُ استهُ أَوْ فَمُهْ

He appeared to us laughing,

He appeared before us laughing

So I said, “His arse or his mouth?”

So I said, "Shut up his mouth or nose."
