القى المُدام بتكسيرٍ وتقليسِ
May rain bless my days when they brimmed, and when
When life seems bitter, full of tears
I greeted wine with swaying and celebratory dancing.
I smash the glass and drain the dregs
وابذرُand I scatter التبرَgold dust فيinto صفراءَyellow wine صافيةٍclear
وابذرُ التبرَ في صفراءَ صافيةٍ
كأَنَّas though فيin الكأسِthe cup ماwhat قدalready كانَwas فيin الكيسِthe purse
كأَنَّ في الكأسِ ما قد كانَ في الكيسِ
And I scatter gold dust into clear yellow wine,
Then scatter pearls into pure saffron wine
As though what had been in the purse were in the cup.
As though the pouch once held the cup’s contents
