لئنْ لثمتُكَ يوماً

لئنْ لثمتُكَ يوماً

وللسرورِ اقتناصُ

وللسرورِ اقتناصُ

If indeed I kiss you one day,

If I kissed you one day

and joy is there to be seized,

And snatched some joy

فهاكَ فاقتصَّ منّي

فهاكَ فاقتصَّ منّي

انَّ الجروحَ قِصَاصُ

انَّ الجروحَ قِصَاصُ

then here you are—take retribution from me:

Then take from me in turn

indeed, wounds are repaid in kind.

For wounds require vengeance
