وماAnd not شكَّdoubted ذوone with بصرٍsight اذْwhen طلعتِyou rose
وما شكَّ ذو بصرٍ اذْ طلعتِ
بأَنكِthat you are شمسُthe sun of الضحىmidmorning فيin البَهَاءِsplendor
بأَنكِ شمسُ الضحى في البَهَاءِ
And no one with sight doubted, when you rose,
None who sees clearly doubts, when you appear
that in splendor you are the midmorning sun.
That you are the dawn's sun in radiant light
فلونُFor the color of عقودكِyour necklaces لونُthe color of النجومِthe stars
فلونُ عقودكِ لونُ النجومِ
ولونُAnd the color of ثيابِكِyour garments لونُthe color of السَّمَاءِthe sky
ولونُ ثيابِكِ لونُ السَّمَاءِ
For the color of your necklaces is the color of the stars,
So the hue of your necklaces is the hue of stars
and the color of your garments is the color of the sky.
And the color of your dress the sky's own height
يمينُthe right hand of المصفقِone who claps مثلُlike الشِّمالِthe left hand
يمينُ المصفقِ مثلُ الشِّمالِ
وليساyet the two are not وانْeven if سُوِّياthey are made equal بالسَّوَاءِequal
وليسا وانْ سُوِّيا بالسَّوَاءِ
The right hand of one who claps is like the left,
Your right hand and left are alike in applause
yet, even if equated, the two are not equal.
