كلُّall ماthat which تَبْتَغيهِyou seek it سَهْلٌeasy يَسيرُsimple
كلُّ ما تَبْتَغيهِ سَهْلٌ يَسيرُ
ولكَand for you اللهُGod حافظٌa guardian وَمجُيرُand a giver of refuge
ولكَ اللهُ حافظٌ وَمجُيرُ
All that you seek is easy and simple.
And God is your guardian and giver of refuge.
انَّماnothing but الدهرُtime والخلائقُand the creatures فيهwithin it
انَّما الدهرُ والخلائقُ فيه
فلكٌa celestial sphere أَنتَyou قطُبهُits axis والمديرُand the one who turns it
فلكٌ أَنتَ قطُبهُ والمديرُ
Time and the creatures within it are nothing but
a celestial sphere: you are its axis and the one who turns it.
أَذِنَgave leave اللهُGod للزمانِto time بأنthat تَبyou remain (first part)
أَذِنَ اللهُ للزمانِ بأن تَب
قَىyou remain (completion) وَتَفنىand perish أَعوامُهits years والشُّهورُand the months
قَى وَتَفنى أَعوامُه والشُّهورُ
God has granted time leave for you to endure,
while its years and months perish,
فيin رِداءٍa robe منof النَّعِيمِbliss وعَيْشٍand a life
في رِداءٍ من النَّعِيمِ وعَيْشٍ
دَائمٍenduring ماno لصفوهِfor its serenity تكديرُclouding
دَائمٍ ما لصفوهِ تكديرُ
in a robe of bliss and a life
enduring, with nothing to cloud its serenity.
كلُّevery شيءٍthing تُؤمىyou gesture اليهِtoward it يُواتيresponds favorably to
كلُّ شيءٍ تُؤمى اليهِ يُواتي
كَyou بماwith what تَشتهىyou desire فأَينso where تُشيرُyou point
كَ بما تَشتهى فأَين تُشيرُ
Everything you gesture toward responds
to you with what you desire—so where do you point?
ياO بَهَاءَsplendor العلاof eminence وياand O رَحْمَةَmercy النَّthe people (first part)
يا بَهَاءَ العلا ويا رَحْمَةَ النَّ
سِthe people (completion) ومنand one whose وجهُهُhis face الضيّاءُthe light المُنِيرُradiant
سِ ومن وجهُهُ الضيّاءُ المُنِيرُ
O splendor of eminence, O mercy to
the people, and you whose face is radiant light,
ببلوغِwith the fulfillment of المُنىwishes ونَيلِand overcoming الأَعادِىthe enemies
ببلوغِ المُنى ونَيلِ الأَعادِى
يتلقاكَgreets you كلَّevery يومٍday بَشِيرُa bearer of glad tidings
يتلقاكَ كلَّ يومٍ بَشِيرُ
with the fulfillment of wishes and the overcoming of foes,
a bearer of glad tidings greets you every day.
وعلىand upon طائرِthe bird of السعادةِhappiness والاقand good fortune (first part)
وعلى طائرِ السعادةِ والاق
بالِgood fortune (completion) يَغْتَرُّtrusts unsuspectingly بابُكyour gate المعمورُwell-frequented
بالِ يَغْتَرُّ بابُك المعمورُ
And in the bird of happiness and
good fortune your well-frequented gate trusts unsuspectingly.
يَصدُرُissues الأَمرُcommand عنfrom مرادكَyour will والنهand prohibition (first part)
يَصدُرُ الأَمرُ عن مرادكَ والنه
يُprohibition (completion) وتُقضىand are settled علىat يَديكِyour two hands الأُمورُaffairs
يُ وتُقضى على يَديكِ الأُمورُ
Command issues from your will, and so does
prohibition; and affairs are settled at your hands.
وبهذاand thus قَضَىdecreed لكfor you اللهُGod حَتْماًdecisively
وبهذا قَضَى لك اللهُ حَتْماً
عادةُthe way اللهِof God مالهاit has no تَغْيِيرُchange
عادةُ اللهِ مالها تَغْيِيرُ
And God has decreed this for you irrevocably;
God's way admits no change.
لاmay ... not جَفَتْforsake دَارَكَyour dwelling المَهَابَةُawe والعِزْand honor (first part)
لا جَفَتْ دَارَكَ المَهَابَةُ والعِزْ
زُhonor (completion) ودامَand may ... endure المُنىwishes بهاin it والسُّرورُand joy
زُ ودامَ المُنى بها والسُّرورُ
May awe never forsake your dwelling, nor
honor; and may wishes and joy endure there.
وَجَرتْand may ... flow بالذىin accord with what تُحِبُّyou love وَتَهواand you desire
وَجَرتْ بالذى تُحِبُّ وَتَهوا
هُit صُروفُvicissitudes الزَّمَانِof time والمَقْدُورُand what is decreed
هُ صُروفُ الزَّمَانِ والمَقْدُورُ
And may there flow in accord with what you love and desire
the vicissitudes of time and what is decreed.
