وقالعٍ من جَنتي خَدَّهُ
نبتاًa growth بهِwith it العشَّاقُthe lovers قدindeed هَامُواhave become infatuated
نبتاً بهِ العشَّاقُ قد هَامُوا
And one who uproots from the twin gardens of his cheek
With cheeks whose softness put to shame the down
A growth with which lovers have become infatuated,
Of myrtles, which have made the lovers swoon,
يقولُhe says محتجاًin his defense اذاwhen لُمتُهI reproached him
يقولُ محتجاً اذا لُمتُه
لاnot يدخلenters الجَنَّةَParadise; the garden نَمَّامُa talebearer; also a fragrant herb
لا يدخل الجَنَّةَ نَمَّامُ
Says in his defense when I reproach him:
He says in self-defense, if you attack his name,
“No talebearer enters Paradise.”
No slanderer can hope God's heaven to gain.
