I have seen no healer of sorrow like wine,
I have not seen wine like sorrow as a healer,
if it does not encounter the jealous guardian;
Unless it meets the jealous as an advocate.

nor any deterrent to folly like the sword's point.
Nor like the flies of swords for the ignorant as a deterrent.

while whoever strives draws near to what he needs.
While necessities come closer to the diligent.

As a friend, nor disclosed it to an enemy.

So what doctor informs people of what ails me?

so the banners there do not recognize the lofty spears.
So the banners do not know its heights.

As if he was privy to the secrets of consciences.

A hand that unsheathed spears and sharpened them
and returned, his forearms stained, ravening.
And persisted, arms bloodied, assailing.
