إِذا الطِوالُ سَدونَ المَشيَ في خَطَلٍ
قامَتshe stands تُريكَshe shows you قَواماًa figure غَيرَnot ذيhaving أَوَدِcrookedness
قامَت تُريكَ قَواماً غَيرَ ذي أَوَدِ
When tall women stride along awkwardly,
When tall ones block the way in unruliness
She stands, showing you a figure free of crookedness.
You stand and show a stance unlike the gentle
تَمشيshe walks كَكُدرِيَةٍlike a dusky female sandgrouse فيin الجَوفِal-Jawf وارِدَةٍcoming to water
تَمشي كَكُدرِيَةٍ في الجَوفِ وارِدَةٍ
تَهديshe leads سُروبَflocks قَطاًsandgrouse يَسرينَthey journey by night لِلثَمَدِto the shallow pool
تَهدي سُروبَ قَطاً يَسرينَ لِلثَمَدِ
She walks like a dusky female sandgrouse in al-Jawf, coming to water,
You walk like a cell made pregnant wandering in
Leading flocks of sandgrouse that journey by night to the shallow pool.
You stoop to pick a flower smiling at the dew
