فَلا يَسمَعا قَولَ الوشاةِ يَخالَكا
Listen, you two, tell Fadala on my behalf that—
Deliver from me to Fadhala that he
So let the two not heed the slanderers’ words [ending unclear as written].
Should not hear the words of slanderers maligning you
رِجالٌmen يَقولونَthey say الأَقاويلَtales; rumors بَينَناbetween us
رِجالٌ يَقولونَ الأَقاويلَ بَينَنا
كَذاكَthus يَقولُutters الواشِونَthe slanderers الأَفائِكاfalsehoods
كَذاكَ يَقولُ الواشِونَ الأَفائِكا
Men spread tales between us;
Men are saying words between us
Thus do slanderers utter falsehoods.
Thus do the tale-bearers speak their lies
أَلَمdid you not تَكُyou were فيwith يُمنىthe right of يَدَيكَyour two hands خَلَعتَنيyou clothed me in honor

فَلا تَخلَعَنّي بَعدَها في شِمالِكا
Did you not clothe me in honor with your right hand?
Were you not once at my right hand honoring me?
Then do not strip me afterward with your left.
Then do not now discard me on your left

Even had I sinned, I would not have been doomed,
If I have sinned, I would not be ruined
With one of your good qualities to rely on.
For one good trait among your virtues
