فَياso, O أَهلَfamily of لَيلىLayla أَكثَرَmay multiply اللَهُGod فيكُمُamong you
فَيا أَهلَ لَيلى أَكثَرَ اللَهُ فيكُمُ
مِنof أَمثالِهاthose like her حَتّىuntil تَجودواyou give generously بِهاwith her لِياto me
مِن أَمثالِها حَتّى تَجودوا بِها لِيا
O people of Layla, may God multiply among you
So, O Layla’s family, may God multiply among you
women like her, until you are generous enough to give her to me.
those like her, until you bestow her on me.
فَماfor never مَسَّtouched جَنبيmy side الأَرضَthe ground إِلّاexcept that ذَكَرتُهاI remembered her
فَما مَسَّ جَنبي الأَرضَ إِلّا ذَكَرتُها
وَإِلّاand except that وَجَدتُI found ريحَهاher scent فيin ثِيابِياmy clothes
وَإِلّا وَجَدتُ ريحَها في ثِيابِيا
For my side never touched the earth without my remembering her,
For my side never touched the ground without my remembering her,
and finding her fragrance in my clothes.
and without my finding her scent in my clothes.
