وَإِنّي لَزَوّارٌ لِمَن لا يَزورُني

إِذا لَم يَكُن في وِدِّهِ بِمُريبِ

Indeed, I often visit one who does not visit me,

And I indeed often visit one who does not visit me,

provided there is no cause to doubt his affection.

If there is no cause to doubt his affection.

تُقَرَّبُ لي دارُ الحَبيبِ وَإِن نَأَت

تُقَرَّبُ لي دارُ الحَبيبِ وَإِن نَأَت

وَما دارُ مَن أَبغَضتُهُ بِقَريبِ

وَما دارُ مَن أَبغَضتُهُ بِقَريبِ

The beloved’s home feels near to me, though it lies far away,

The beloved’s home is brought near to me, even if it lies far away,

while the home of one I hate is never near.

And the home of one I hate is not near.

فَلا تَطلُبَنَّ القُربَ وَالبُعدُ بَعدَها

فَلا تَطلُبَنَّ القُربَ وَالبُعدُ بَعدَها

إِلى غَيرِ نِيّاتٍ وَغَيرِ قُلوبِ

إِلى غَيرِ نِيّاتٍ وَغَيرِ قُلوبِ

So, after this, seek neither nearness nor distance

So never seek nearness and distance, after that,

anywhere but in intentions and in hearts.
