يَداهُhis two hands يَدٌone hand تَنهَلُّpours forth بِالخَيرِwith goodness وَالنَدىand generosity
يَداهُ يَدٌ تَنهَلُّ بِالخَيرِ وَالنَدى
وَأُخرىand the other شَديدٌsevere بِالأَعاديupon the enemies ضَريرُهاits harm
وَأُخرى شَديدٌ بِالأَعادي ضَريرُها
His two hands: one shines with goodness and generosity;
Of his two hands, one pours forth goodness and generosity;
the other deals his enemies grievous harm.
and the other deals grievous harm to enemies.
وَناراهُand his two fires نارٌone fire نارُthe fire of كُلِّevery مُدَفَّعٍoutcast
وَناراهُ نارٌ نارُ كُلِّ مُدَفَّعٍ
وَأُخرىand the other يُصيبُstrikes المُجرِمينَthe criminals سَعيرُهاits blaze
وَأُخرى يُصيبُ المُجرِمينَ سَعيرُها
And his two fires: one is every destitute person’s hearth;
And of his two fires, one is the fire of every outcast;
the other—its blaze strikes the guilty.
and the other’s blaze strikes the criminals.
أَلَمhave you not تَرَseen أَنَّthat الوَحشَwild game يُخدَعُis deceived مَرَّةًonce
أَلَم تَرَ أَنَّ الوَحشَ يُخدَعُ مَرَّةً
وَيُخدَعُand is deceived أَحياناًsometimes فَيَصطادُso is caught نورُهاits wild bull
وَيُخدَعُ أَحياناً فَيَصطادُ نورُها
Have you not seen that wild game may once be beguiled,
Have you not seen that wild game is deceived once,
and at times be beguiled, so that its light catches it?
and is sometimes beguiled, so its wild bull is caught?
بَلىindeed وَضَواريَand the predators الطَيرِamong birds تُخفِقُfail مَرَّةًonce
بَلى وَضَواريَ الطَيرِ تُخفِقُ مَرَّةً
وَإِنand even if فَرِهَتare adept عِقبانُهاtheir eagles وَنُسورُهاand their vultures
وَإِن فَرِهَت عِقبانُها وَنُسورُها
Indeed—even the fiercest birds may flutter once,
Indeed, birds of prey sometimes fail,
though their eagles and vultures be vigorous.
