فَلاso, not أُرِدَنَّI shall bring عَلىagainst جَماعةِthe band of مازِنٍMāzin
فَلا أُرِدَنَّ عَلى جَماعةِ مازِنٍ
خَيلاًhorses مُقِّلَصَةَwith drawn-up الخُصىtesticles وَرِجالاand men
خَيلاً مُقِّلَصَةَ الخُصى وَرِجالا
So let me never bring against Māzin’s band
I will not attack the tribe of Mazin
horses with drawn-up testicles, and men
With horses whose hooves thunder, or worthy men
ظَلّواthey remained بِذيat Dhū أُرُكٍUruk كَأَنَّas though رُؤوسَهُمtheir heads
ظَلّوا بِذي أُرُكٍ كَأَنَّ رُؤوسَهُم
شَجَرٌtrees تَخَطّاهُpassed it by الرَّبيعُspring فَحالاand so withered
شَجَرٌ تَخَطّاهُ الرَّبيعُ فَحالا
who remained at Dhū Uruk, their heads like
Who dwelt in Urak's valley, like trees in bloom
trees that spring had passed by, leaving them withered.
Swaying when spring has come to make all anew
