ياoh حُسنَهاher beauty جاريةًa maiden أَقبلتshe approached
يا حُسنَها جاريةً أَقبلت
فيin اللَيلthe night واللَيلُand the night بهاthrough her كالنَهارlike the day
في اللَيل واللَيلُ بها كالنَهار
Oh, how lovely she was—a maiden who came
O her beauty, she came in the night
At night, while her presence made the night like day.
And the night with her was like day
لمّاwhen رأَتنيshe saw me خفضَتshe lowered طَرفَهاher gaze
لمّا رأَتني خفضَت طَرفَها
فَقُلتُso I said ماhow أَحسنَlovely خَفضَlowering الجوارthe maidens
فَقُلتُ ما أَحسنَ خَفضَ الجوار
When she saw me, she lowered her gaze,
When she saw me, she lowered her gaze
So I said, “How lovely when maidens lower their gaze!”
So I said, how beautiful is the lowering of eyes by a neighbor
