أَياO ماجِداًnoble one قدindeed أَتقنَhas mastered اللَّفظَexpression وَالمعنىand meaning
أَيا ماجِداً قد أَتقنَ اللَّفظَ وَالمعنى
وَمَعهُand with him منof الإحسانgoodness ماthat which لمdid not يكنbe مَعناwith us
وَمَعهُ من الإحسان ما لم يكن مَعنا
O noble one who has mastered expression and meaning,
O Majid who mastered diction and meaning
And possesses goodness we have never had,
With him from benevolence what was not with us
إليكَto you فقدfor indeed صيَّرتَyou have made سَحبانSahban مُفحماًspeechless
إليكَ فقد صيَّرتَ سَحبان مُفحماً
وأَخجلتَand you have put to shame بالإفضالthrough generosity ياO سيِّديmy lord مَعناMa'n
وأَخجلتَ بالإفضال يا سيِّدي مَعنا
To you—for you have rendered Sahban speechless,
To you so you made morning drizzle scorching
And through generosity, O my lord, you have put Ma'n to shame.
And with benevolence you shamed, my master, us
