ياO ملكاًking عمَّencompassed نَداهhis bounty الوَرىhumankind
يا ملكاً عمَّ نَداه الوَرى
وأَلحقand put on a par الباديَthe visitor بالعاكفِwith the resident
وأَلحق الباديَ بالعاكفِ
O king whose bounty has embraced all humankind
O king whose call encompasses the land
and made the visitor equal to the resident,
And joins the nomad with the sedentary
لمّاwhen حللتَyou settled in الطائفَTa'if المُشتَهىthe longed-for
لمّا حللتَ الطائفَ المُشتَهى
وَصرتَand you became فيهin it مأمنَa refuge for الخائفِthe fearful one
وَصرتَ فيه مأمنَ الخائفِ
when you settled in longed-for Ta'if
When you entered the coveted sanctuary
and became there a refuge for the fearful,
And became a refuge for the fearful
طافَcircled بكَaround you الخَلقُthe people جَميعاًall together فَهاso behold
طافَ بكَ الخَلقُ جَميعاً فَها
بيتُكyour house أَضحىhas become كعبةَthe Kaaba of الطائفِthe one who circles
بيتُك أَضحى كعبةَ الطائفِ
all people circled around you—so behold:
All creation circled around you
your house has become the Kaaba for those who circle.
Your home became the Kaaba of al-Taif
