ياO قَهوةًcoffee قِشريَّةًbrewed from coffee husks
يا قَهوةً قِشريَّةً
حَكَتmirrored النُضارَpure gold بلَونِهاin her color
حَكَت النُضارَ بلَونِها
O coffee brewed from husks,
O coffee, light brown,
whose color mirrored pure gold!
you told of freshness with your color,
وَلَكمand how often حباكَbestowed on you حَبابُهاher bubbles
وَلَكم حباكَ حَبابُها
بخَلاصِهاwith her refined gold ولُجَينِهاand her silver
بخَلاصِها ولُجَينِها
And how often her bubbles bestowed on you
and how much did your beans love me
her refined gold and her silver!
with their essence and concentration.
جُليَتshe was unveiled عليَّbefore me مصونةًkept inviolate
جُليَت عليَّ مصونةً
بِزفافِهاin her bridal procession وبصَونِهاand with her honor preserved
بِزفافِها وبصَونِها
She was unveiled before me, inviolate,
You were revealed to me, guarded,
in her bridal procession, her honor preserved.
with your wedding and modesty.
وَكأَنَّand as though كُلَّeach حَبابَةٍbubble
وَكأَنَّ كُلَّ حَبابَةٍ
تَرنوgazes إليَّat me بِعَينِهاwith its eye
تَرنو إليَّ بِعَينِها
And it is as though each bubble
And it was as if every bubble
gazes at me with its eye.
