شَوقي إليكم يا أَهل ودّي
أَلَّفbrought together بينَbetween الأَسىsorrow وَبَينيand between me
أَلَّف بينَ الأَسى وَبَيني
My longing for you, O those I love,
My longing for you, my dear family
Has brought sorrow and me together.
Has brought grief and me together
هَذاthis وَشَوقيand my longing لكمfor you أَراهI see it
هَذا وَشَوقي لكم أَراه
شَوقاًa longing لِنَفسيfor myself منfrom غيرother than مَينِfalsehood
شَوقاً لِنَفسي من غير مَينِ
That said, I see my longing for you
And my longing for you, as I see it
As longing for myself, without falsehood.
Is a longing for myself, without any twist
وصدقُand the truth of ماwhat أَدَّعيهI claim it فيكمabout you
وصدقُ ما أَدَّعيه فيكم
أَنَّthat عليّاًAli أَبوthe father of الحُسَينِal-Husayn
أَنَّ عليّاً أَبو الحُسَينِ
And the truth of what I claim about you
And truly what I claim about you
Is that Ali is the father of al-Husayn.
That Ali is the father of Hussein
