battling separation by morning and by night.

Had you found the paths of guidance, you would have come.

in which I made wondrous speech grow and flourish.

Thought adorned it with such magic of eloquence

as baffled Harut and Marut in Babylon.

    ومن يَقيسُ بنَشر المسكِ حِلتيتا

    Through praising you it rose beyond any comparable likeness;

who would compare asafoetida with the fragrance of musk?

Upon you be the noblest of God's blessings,

and upon your radiant family, as long as they and you are greeted.
