And a rosy-cheeked, graceful youth, whose beauty mark

Has almost bewitched his paternal uncle with its handsomeness.

If he singled out my heart for passion, then his Lord

Has enveloped him in beauty, so abundant is his loveliness.

He lined his eyes with kohl, while within his eyelids lay

A keen sword resembling the serpent’s fang and its venom.

And he wept from an eye of vivid white and black, adorned by

Kohl; I said, “He has quenched the sword and poisoned it.”
