حَكيتَyou resembled الدُجىthe night’s darkness والصُبحَand the dawn والغصنَand the bough والنَقاand the sand dune
حَكيتَ الدُجى والصُبحَ والغصنَ والنَقا
قواماًin stature وأَردافاًand in hips وفَرعاًand in tresses ورَونَقاand in radiance
قواماً وأَردافاً وفَرعاً ورَونَقا
You resembled the night’s darkness, the dawn, the bough, and the sand dune,
in stature, hips, tresses, and radiance.
وأَخجلتَand you put to shame حسناًin beauty طلعةَthe face of البدرِthe full moon والرَشاand the gazelle fawn
وأَخجلتَ حسناً طلعةَ البدرِ والرَشا
وورقَand the doves of الحِمىthe sanctuary لحظاًin glance ووجهاًand in face ومَنطِقاand in speech
وورقَ الحِمى لحظاً ووجهاً ومَنطِقا
And in beauty you put to shame the full moon’s face and the gazelle fawn,
and the sanctuary’s doves—in glance, face, and speech.
