ياO قائِلاًone who says إِنَّthat indeed قشرَthe husk of البُنِّcoffee قدindeed حَرُماhas become forbidden
لكونهbecause it is مُفسداًimpairing عقلَthe mind of الَّذيwhoever طَعِماconsumed
O you who say that coffee husks have become forbidden,
because they impair the mind of whoever consumes them:
إِفسادُهits impairment of العقلَthe mind مَمنوعٌdenied كماas شَهِدَتhas attested
بهto this التَجاربُexperience فاِسألso ask منone who بهabout it عَلماknows
That they impair the mind is denied, as
experience has shown; so ask one who knows about them.
وإِنand even if بتحريمِهِfor its prohibition أَفتىgave a legal ruling مكابرةًout of obstinacy
أَبوAbu (father of) كثيرٍKathir فدَعهُthen leave him والَّذيand what زَعَماhe claimed
And even if, out of obstinacy, they were ruled forbidden
by Abu Kathir, leave him and what he claimed.
فَلَيسَfor it is not تحريمُهits prohibition يوماًever بضائِرناharmful to us
إِذsince كانَwas إفسادُهits impairment للعقلto the mind قدindeed عُدِماnonexistent
For declaring them forbidden will never harm us,
since they cause no impairment of the mind.
وَماand not يحلِّلُmakes lawful شَيئاًanything أَوor يحرِّمُهforbids it
إلّاexcept الَّذيthe One who خلقَcreated الأَشياءَall things لاnot العُلَماthe scholars
And no one makes anything lawful or forbids it
except the One who created all things—not the scholars.
