Whoever compared the bounty of your two palms, when it poured forth,
He who measures the worth of your rest
to the rain erred in the comparison and did not understand;
When the clouds promise rain, errs in his measure

وَالغَيثُ يُعطي باكياً مُستَعبِرا
for you give laughing and rejoicing,
And knows not. For you give with a laughing, cheerful face
while the rain gives weeping and shedding tears.
While the rain gives with a weeping, gloomy face
