ولا ماثَلتهُ في علوٍّ ولا نُبلِ
And one who puts sunlight to shame—the sun has never seen his face,
By the sun's radiance his face you've never seen
Nor equaled him in loftiness or nobility.
Nor his equal in glory or nobility

We waste away with lovesickness if he seeks to act coy with us,
We've endured passionate love if he fancied to be indulged
In love, our souls worn out, yet we wear no one out.
In love the testing of souls not nobility
