دَتshe bestowed (word ends) ثباتاًsteadfastness إلىto وقارِthe dignity of الحليمِthe forbearing man
دَت ثباتاً إلى وقارِ الحليمِ
And despite her stripping away dignity, how often she has bestowed
Though robbed of dignity, how much she sighed
steadfastness upon the dignity of the forbearing man!
To win composure like the steadfast sage
وأَذمَّتand she brought blame upon كرامَthe noble men of قَومٍa people فذُمَّتso she was blamed
وأَذمَّت كرامَ قَومٍ فذُمَّت
وَذمامُand the pledged protection of الكرامnoble men غيرُnot ذميمِblameworthy
وَذمامُ الكرام غيرُ ذميمِ
And she brought blame upon a people's noble men, so she was blamed;
And faulted honor in a folk, so chided
and the pledged protection of noble men is not blameworthy.
But censure of the noble is no outrage
