وَغادَةٍ من بَناتِ الهند قد برزَت
فيin زيِّهاher attire بينbetween أَسجافٍcurtains وأَستارِand veils
في زيِّها بين أَسجافٍ وأَستارِ
And a graceful maiden from among India's daughters has appeared
A maiden of India appeared,
In her attire, between curtains and veils.
In her attire, amid curtains and screens.
فَقُلتُso I said لَمّاwhen سرتshe walked فيin اللاذِthe silk مائِسةًswaying gracefully
فَقُلتُ لَمّا سرت في اللاذِ مائِسةً
ياah حبّذاhow lovely السيرthe walk بلnay ياah حبَّذاhow lovely الساريthe walker by night
يا حبّذا السير بل يا حبَّذا الساري
So I said, when she walked in silk, swaying gracefully:
When she passed by sad in the refuge, I said:
Ah, how lovely the walk—nay, ah, how lovely the walker!
“Blessed is the one who walks! Nay, blessed is the one who travels!”
