This is a book, beautiful in its meanings,
This is a book, beautiful in its meanings,
By al-Daylami, Abu Muhammad al-Hasan;
By Abu Muhammad Al-Hasan Al-Daylami.
أَشهىmore desirable إلىto المضنىthe enfeebled one العَليلthe ailing one منthan الشِفاhealing
أَشهى إلى المضنى العَليل من الشِفا
وأَلذّand more delightful فيin العَينينِthe two eyes منthan غَمضِclosing the eyes الوَسَنdrowsiness
وأَلذّ في العَينينِ من غَمضِ الوَسَن
More desirable to the enfeebled invalid than healing,
It is more yearned for by the afflicted and frail than remedy,
And more delightful to both eyes than closing them in drowsiness.
And sweeter to the eyes than kohl on the eyelids.
