أَلاbehold إِنَّماindeed الياقوتُthe ruby أَحسَنُthe finest جَوهرٍgem
أَلا إِنَّما الياقوتُ أَحسَنُ جَوهرٍ
وَأَحسنand finer منهthan it فيamong البَريّاتِcreated beings ياقوتُYaqut
وَأَحسن منه في البَريّاتِ ياقوتُ
Behold, the ruby is indeed the finest gem;
Oh ruby red, the finest gem of all
And finer than it among created beings is Yaqut,
And fairer still in wilds of stone
علىon account of أَنَّهhis being قوتُthe sustenance القلوبof hearts بأَسرِهاall of them
على أَنَّه قوتُ القلوب بأَسرِها
أَلَمhave you not تَرَseen كُلَّall الخَلقِcreation يَدعوهُcalling him ياقوتُYaqut (also “O sustenance”)
أَلَم تَرَ كُلَّ الخَلقِ يَدعوهُ ياقوتُ
For he is the sustenance of all hearts;
The strengthening of hearts it is, you see
Have you not seen all creation call him “Yaqut”—“O sustenance”?
For all creation calls it ruby
