يا واحد العلياء يا أحمد الورى
وياand O منthe one who غدتhave become تثنىare bestowed in praise عليهupon him المحامدpraises
ويا من غدت تثنى عليه المحامد
O peerless in eminence, O Ahmad, most praiseworthy of humankind,
O Most High, O Ahmad Almighty
And O you upon whom praises have come to be lavished,
You who become worthy of endless praise
وياand O بحرsea جودgenerosity فاضoverflowed فضلاbounty ونائلاand gifts
ويا بحر جود فاض فضلا ونائلا

And O sea of generosity, overflowing with bounty and gifts,
O overflowing sea of generosity and giver of bounty
Whose outlets and inlets are praiseworthy.
Your sources are lauded and your gifts plentiful
لقدindeed زادhas increased قلبيmy heart بالوعودwith promises تعللاself-consolation
لقد زاد قلبي بالوعود تعللا
ولاand no مسعفone who aids فيin الدهرthis life ليfor me ومساعدand a helper
ولا مسعف في الدهر لي ومساعد
Indeed, my heart has increasingly consoled itself with promises,
Indeed, my heart grew sick from promises not kept
Yet in this life I have no one to aid or help me.
With no comforter in this life to aid me
عسىmay عائدa benefaction منكمfrom you يعودreturn علىto الذيthe one who
عسى عائد منكم يعود على الذي
لهhe has صلةa gift منfrom نحوكمyour direction وعوائدand customary favors
له صلة من نحوكم وعوائد
May a favor from you return to the one
Perhaps one of you may yet return to me
Who has received a gift and customary favors from you.
One to whom I am connected, and gifts I await
