بي سكريّ قد تبلج ثغره
وحلاand grown sweet ممازجةmingling بماءwith the water of الكوثرKawthar
وحلا ممازجة بماء الكوثر
I am smitten with a sugar-seller whose mouth has gleamed
His sweetness intoxicated his lips,
and grown sweet through mingling with the water of Kawthar.
Embellished with the water of paradise.
باللهfor God's sake حلوsweet حديثهhis speech كررrepeat علىto
بالله حلو حديثه كرر على
سمعيmy hearing فماfor how أحلىsweet حديثthe talk of السكرsugar
سمعي فما أحلى حديث السكر
For God's sake, repeat his sweet speech to
By God, how sweet is his talk, repeat it
my ears—for how sweet is the talk of sugar!
To my ears, for nothing is sweeter than such sweet words.
