Fulfill, by the right of your eminence, what I hope for.

O you whom the proud and the needy seek.

O you whose hands pour forth noble gifts,

From every copious bounty that brings success.

    واقول بحر ندا ولست اداجي

    O rain of generosity—rather, a cloud of gifts;

And I say: a sea of generosity—and I do not dissemble.

Hasten what you have promised me, for many a time

I have given her robes of brocade.

For poverty afflicting me—may you be spared—has ravaged my vitals,

I swear—and treating me has baffled the physician.

And upon me, kinds of cares have multiplied

And crashed together as waves crash.

So may your bounty dawn, and may there lift from me

The cloud of cares and my poverty's pitch-dark night.

My lord, O crown of splendor, you through whom

All mortals can dispense with every lamp's light.

Take her as a bride, unveiled from her chamber,

A virgin, the prized creation of my thought and weaving.

    والدر لا يهدى لغير التاج

    I bore her to you as pearls, strung in order;

And pearls are offered only to the crown.

May you ever remain in glory and favorable fortune,

And serenity of life and a balanced temperament.

And may you remain happy amid joys, despite

The envious one's fury, and despite every dissembler.

As long as the gardens' gray doves warble, and as long as they go at dawn

To one wounded by longing, whispering of love.
