  1. وقلت بالنجم أستهدي لنهج غنى

    لما بدا أوله في الكون أنوار

    And I said, 'I seek the star’s guidance toward a path to wealth,'

    when its first gleams appeared in the world.

  2. فغرني ببروق ما بها مطر

    يا صدق من قال ان النجم غرار

    But it deceived me with lightning flashes that brought no rain.

    How true the words of him who said, 'The star is a deceiver!'
