وليلة زارني بدري وبتنا

على ضم وقد غفل الرقيب
And one night my full moon visited me, and we spent the night
in an embrace, while the watcher had grown heedless.
كأنas though بهاin it الهلالthe crescent يدa hand ثناهاhe bent it
كأن بها الهلال يد ثناها
محبa lover أوor توسدهاhe used it as a pillow الطبيبthe physician
محب أو توسدها الطبيب
As though the crescent that night were a hand bent
by a lover, or used as a pillow by the physician.
