Sol 6.1

  1. ومذ تاه الدليل وقد ظللنا

    بليل ليس يهدى سالكوه

    And when the guide lost his way, while we remained

    in a night whose travelers found no guidance,

  2. فأشرق وجه من أهوى ونادى

    انا ابن جلا ألا لا تنكروه

    the face of the one I love shone forth and called out:

    "I am Ibn Jalā—take heed; do not fail to recognize him!"

  3. ووجه البدر وافانا سريعا

    وقال وقد حكاه انا اخوه

    And the face of the full moon came swiftly to us,

    and, resembling him, said, "I am his brother."

  4. فقلت لصاحبي انعم صباحا

    لعمرك قد تعارفت الوجوه

    So I said to my companion, "May your morning be happy!"

    "By your life, the faces have recognized one another."
