بديعا به يحلو لشعري التغزل

You sold us, wrapped up, what was delightful to unfold,

You sent us openly what is unsavory to publish

a marvel through which my verse delights in singing of love.

Artfully clothed in a sweet guise for my amorous verse

فقابلته بالبشر مني والرضا

فقابلته بالبشر مني والرضا

ومهما اتى منكم على الرأي يحمل

ومهما اتى منكم على الرأي يحمل

So I received it with my cheerfulness and contentment,

I met it with good cheer and acceptance from me

and whatever comes from you is taken as considered judgment.

And whatever comes from you I bear with good will
