Why, with your life, did you deprive them of the excellent and pure parts?
فقالَتso she said ولمand did not تكذِبlie خشيتI feared سقوطَهُits falling

She said, and did not lie, “I feared they might fall,”
She said - and did not lie - "I feared their downfall.
And pointed to her mouth, where they were strung as teeth.
So I tended to put in them a mouth."
كَذَلِكَlikewise إِنif عَضّbit السّوارُthe bracelet بِمِعصَميat my wrist

“Likewise, if the bracelet bites my wrist
Likewise, if the bracelet bites my wrist
And tries to make it bleed, I put it around my waist.”
And tries to make it bleed, I move it to my waist.
