    I would give my life for those boats, set racing

    like a field of horses—first one, then a second.

    And the river's neck had previously been bare,

    so by evening, with them, it was adorned in night's darkness.

    تخالُ بها ضمن الغديرِ عوالِيا

    Upon them, the candle-glow forms shining stars;

    you fancy them aloft, there within the pool.

    And many a one is set moving by a wing, and another

    by a foot, resembling a hare that feared a hawk.
