وخَديمةٍand a handmaid للعلمِof learning فيin أحشائِهاher inner depths
وخَديمةٍ للعلمِ في أحشائِها
كلَفٌa passion بجمعfor gathering حرامِهِits forbidden matters وحَلالِهِand its lawful matters
كلَفٌ بجمع حرامِهِ وحَلالِهِ
And a handmaid of learning, in whose depths
A servant of knowledge in its depths
Dwells a passion for gathering its forbidden and lawful matters.
Charged with collecting its forbidden and its lawful
لبستshe donned رداءthe cloak الليلthe night ثمّthen توشّحَتshe draped herself
لبست رداء الليل ثمّ توشّحَت
بنُجومِهِwith its stars وتتوجتand she crowned herself بهلالِهِwith its crescent
بنُجومِهِ وتتوجت بهلالِهِ
She donned the cloak of night, then draped herself
She wore the cloak of night then draped herself
With its stars, and crowned herself with its crescent.
With its stars and crowned herself with its crescent moon
