تَرى هجْرِي وتعْذِيبي تِجَارَهْ
In one of these tents dwells a neighbor,
In one of these tents my neighbor
She regards shunning me and tormenting me as a trade.
Sees my abandonment and torment as merchandise
وكَمْand how often نادَيْتُI called out ياO هذِيyou there ارْحَمِينَاhave mercy on us

فلسْنا بالحَدِيدِ ولا الحِجَارَهْ
And how often I have cried, 'O you, have mercy on us!'
And how often I called out, "Oh you, have mercy on us!"
For we are neither iron nor stone.
For we are not made of iron or stone

Ask at the clash of the two advancing cavalry hosts,
Ask the two cavalry regiments as they march
When Death asks me for protection.
When misfortune asks me for payment
هنالكَthere تعْرِفينَyou will recognize خَطِيرَgreat قَدْريmy worth

وتَسْترْضينَ منْ حُر نِجَارَهْ
There you will recognize my great worth,
There you will know the gravity of my situation
And seek to please one whose lineage is noble.
And be satisfied by the skill of the carpenter
