Today marks a week for me, O my heart's desire;

your most charming form has not appeared to me.

ماذا الجفاءُ اللهَ في مُغْرَمٍ

ماذا الجفاءُ اللهَ في مُغْرَمٍ

أدْمُعُهُ مِنْ لَوْعَةٍ تَذْرِفُ

أدْمُعُهُ مِنْ لَوْعَةٍ تَذْرِفُ

Why this coldness? For God's sake, pity a lover

whose tears stream from burning anguish.

أيَظْهَرُ البَدْرُ عَلى بُعْدِهِ

أيَظْهَرُ البَدْرُ عَلى بُعْدِهِ

وأنتَ بالقُرْبِ ولا تُسْعِفُ

وأنتَ بالقُرْبِ ولا تُسْعِفُ

Does the full moon appear despite its distance,

while you are near, yet offer no relief?
