ياO مَنْyou whose أغارُI am jealous عَلىover هَواهُhis love
يا مَنْ أغارُ عَلى هَواهُ
مِنْهُfrom him ومنِّيand from me ومِنْand from سِوائيanyone other than me
مِنْهُ ومنِّي ومِنْ سِوائي
O you whose love I jealously guard
O you whom I'm jealous of because of his love
from you, from myself, and from everyone else—
Of him, myself, and others
حَتَّىso much so that إذاwhen ماever (emphasis) أردْتُI wished سِرّاًa secret
حَتَّى إذا ما أردْتُ سِرّاً
خَطَطْتُI traced فيon صَفْحَةِthe page of الهَواءِthe air
خَطَطْتُ في صَفْحَةِ الهَواءِ
so much so that whenever I wish to write a secret,
Until when I wanted to travel secretly
I trace it on the page of the air.
I sailed on the page of air
