From You is my remedy and in Your hands is my cure
جَذَبَتْنِيdrew me الدُّنياthe world إلَيْهاtoward itself بِضَبْعيby my upper arm
ودَعَتْنيand called me لِمِحْنَتِيto my ordeal وشَقائيand my misery
The world drew me toward itself by my upper arm,
The world pulled me to it by my forelock
And called me to my ordeal and my misery.
And left me to my affliction and misery
ياO إلهيmy God وأنْتَand You تَعْلَمُknow حاليmy condition
لاdo not تَذَرْنيleave me شماتَةَgloating الأعداءِthe enemies
O my God, You know my condition—
O my God, and You know my state
Do not leave me for my enemies to gloat over.
Leave me not to the gloating of enemies
