Is that blood upon your cheek, or saffron perfume?

And is that saliva in your mouth, or pure wine?

And what has smiled—front teeth or daisies?

And do lips surround them, or red anemones?

And is that sleep's drowsiness, imbibed by

your eyelids, or is it aged wine?

Your curves have indeed infected me with their sway,

And my heart, in its drunkenness, never sobers.

Your beauty is my gathering-place, and love of you my wine,

And your cup is my eye—so when shall I sober up?
