لا عَيْشَ للنَّفس بُمسْتَثْقَلٍ

لا عَيْشَ للنَّفس بُمسْتَثْقَلٍ

مَهْما بَدا كَدَّرَ أفْراحَها

مَهْما بَدا كَدَّرَ أفْراحَها

There is no life for the soul with someone burdensome;

whenever he appears, he clouds its joys,

كأنَّما أنْشأهُ اللهُ أن

كأنَّما أنْشأهُ اللهُ أن

يَسْجُنَ في الأجْسادِ أرْواحَها

يَسْجُنَ في الأجْسادِ أرْواحَها

as though God created him to

imprison souls within their bodies.
