إذاif حظيتَyou are blessed بِعقلٍwith intellect فاقْنَعَنَّthen be content indeed بِهwith it
إذا حظيتَ بِعقلٍ فاقْنَعَنَّ بِه
فَذاكَfor that فَضْلٌa blessing لَعَمريby my life غَيْرُnot مَقْدورِmeasurable
فَذاكَ فَضْلٌ لَعَمري غَيْرُ مَقْدورِ
If you are blessed with reason, then be content with it;
If you are blessed with intellect, then be content with it.
for that—by my life—is bounty beyond all measure.
For that, by my life, is a blessing beyond measure.
شَيْئانِtwo things قَدْindeed شَذَّhas been rare فيin الدُّنياthis world اجْتِماعُهماtheir coming together
شَيْئانِ قَدْ شَذَّ في الدُّنيا اجْتِماعُهما
كمالُperfection عقْلِof intellect ورِزْقٌand provision غيرُnot مَقْدورِlimited
كمالُ عقْلِ ورِزْقٌ غيرُ مَقْدورِ
Two things have rarely come together in this world:
Two things seldom come together in this world:
a perfect mind and provision without bound.
Perfect intellect and provision without limit.
