ياO غائباًabsent one عنfrom حِضارِprecincts of القُدْسِholiness قَدindeed حُجِبَتْhave been veiled
مِنْهُof him عَنِfrom الحَقِّthe Truth أبصارٌeyes وآذانُand ears
O you absent from the precincts of holiness—veiled
From the Truth are your eyes and ears;
وعابِداًand one worshipping مِنْfrom هَواهُhis desire دَهْرَهُhis lifetime وَثَناًan idol
اِرْجِعْreturn لِنَفْسِكَto yourself فالأهواءُfor desires أوثانُidols
And you who worship an idol of your desire all your life,
Return to yourself, for desires are idols.
إيَّايَmyself أعْنيI mean فياso, oh وَيْحيwoe to me وياand oh أسفيmy sorrow
إنْif لَمْnot يَكُنْthere be مِنْهُfrom Him ليfor me عَفْوٌpardon وغُفرانُand forgiveness
I mean myself—oh, woe is me, and oh, my sorrow,
If there is no pardon and forgiveness for me from Him.
